Teacher Lounge – 8-17-12

Today we are making this card:

Supplies needed; Alcohol Inks, shiny paper, compressed air, Black dye ink

Make a few drops of your choice of alcohol inks around the paper

Using compressed air, spray in spurts to spread out the inks.

Using black dye ink, stamp image on inked panel, and mount on card base with pop dots.

I hope you enjoyed this small tutorial and that you try it out!  I also tried hair spray – it made a beautiful background, but just that — you can’t stamp on it.  Ask me how I know that! :)

Thanks for stopping by~

STAMPS:  Stamp School  Birthday Icons

Art Room 8/15/12

Hello! Samantha here today with what seems to be a pretty trendy color combo for today’s challenge.

So today’s colors are Orange (Orange Fizz), Turquoiose (Berrylicious or Blue Raspberry), and Brown (Kraft or Hot Fudge). This is a great color combo for masculine cards. I created this one for my nephew’s birthday (he just happened to be turning 7, so I used 7 candles).

Here’s my card:

This was a pretty simple card to put together. The final card measures 6″ x 4″. I stamped the birthday candles from Birthday Icons 3 times on white card stock. Then I colored them with Copic Markers, cut them out, and attached them to the card. I like how they really pop against the kraft background.

We’re adding a submission form below this post. Make up your card and post it on your blog (with a link to our blog of course). Submit your card by adding it below. Make sure to post it to the actual blog post and not just your general blog address. You have until 11:58 on the last day of the month to upload any challenge entries.

We will randomly choose a winner from each month’s submissions to win a prize package from Stamp School.

Art Room – 8-1-12

Hi Vicki here today with the Color Challenge for the month of August.

The colors this month are Purple, Red and Black, with any neutral.  Easy enough~  How did I make this card?  I inked up my acrylic block, spritz it with water and stamped it on my card stock.  I love this effect, you can’t plan how it will work out! :)

Remember, if you are the random winner, you win a prize at the end of the month!  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by~

Hello! Samantha here to kick of another great week at stamp school.  Today, I have this fabulous color combination for you to try out:

So, today’s colors are Snow Cone, Lemon Drop, and Wild Cherry.  I LOVE this perfectly pretty photo and color combination, but just to show you it can be done in a manly way, too, I created this Father’s Day card.

Art Room 5-7-12

Good Monday everyone! Lisa here today. Today, I’m sharing an Art Room color scheme with you. I was looking for some interesting color combinations on our Pinterest board, and fell in love with these SHOES! Aren’t they so very pretty! Now, I have to tell you, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing these, because I am pretty sure I’d end up with a broken ankle or leg if I tried to leave the house with something like these, but they sure are PRETTY!

My card today is for those Moms who like to golf. Usually when you see a golf cart on a card, it’s for a man…not today!

I started with my Razzleberry base, and cut a Grape Jelly card front to 4 x 5 1/4. Then I took my Dusty Concord Distress Markers to stamp my larger flower image from Flowers for Mom. You’ll see I stamped the second generation stamp to get a little shadow and depth to my flowers around the golf cart. I also took my Picket Fence Distress marker to get the white around some flower petals.

I stamped the golf cart from Dad’s Tools in the flowers directly on the card. Then I stamped it onto my Blue Raspberry cardstock and adhered the top and the cart to the card.

Last, I used my Spellbinders Labels 22 die and traced it with my Dusty Concord marker. I stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice ink. The sentiment is from Women in My Life.

I hope this gives you an idea to take those typical manly images and maybe girly them up!

Art Room 4-2-2012

Hello! Samantha here with you in the Art Room today. I love the pretty pastels that were released as this month’s colors. I especially love pastels combined with a pop of darker color, so for this week’s color challenge, I chose this pretty inspiration:

You can find the original photo here.

Instead of a card, I decided to do a bottle wrapper. Now, if you or your recipient doesn’t drink wine, you can create something like this to go on a nice bottle of olive oil or balsamic vinegar.

1. Cut felt with any decorative label die. I used the same die on 2 different colors of felt (Grapesicle and Jelly Bean Green). I cut the green felt in half, and layered it behind the Grapesicle Felt.

2. Attach the felt to the bottle (I used Glue Dots).

3. Wrap ribbon, burlap, or twine around the bottle and secure on the back side.

4. Cut a flower from felt. I used Grapesicle and Banana Split to create the flower and Jelly Bean Green to make the leaves. Decorate the center with a button, brad, or rhinestone.  Attach the flower to the bottle.

5. Stamp “Mom” from Women In My Life on a small tag or piece of paper. Attach to bottle.

We’re adding a submission form below this post for you to show us your own Green and Brown creation. Make up your card and post it on your blog (with a link to our blog of course *wink*). Submit your card by adding it below. Make sure to post it to the actual blog post and not just your general blog address. You have until 11:58 on the last day of the month to upload any challenge entries. Your creations do not have to include Stamp School stamps in order to be entered, but we do LOVE to see what you’re creating with Stamp School products.

We will randomly choose a winner from each month’s submissions to win a prize package from Stamp School.

Thanks for playing along!

Art Room 03/05/12

Hi all!  Amber here from The Country Scrapper to teach this week’s Art Room.  I just love the new Graduates Stamp Set from Stamp School and couldn’t resist using my High School colors for this week’s challenge.

This week we are using the colors Black Licorice, Wild Cherry, and Whip Cream.  Here is my card:

I did a little paper piecing to make my graduate look perfect.  I stamped her feet directly on the cardstock.  Then stamped the graduation gown and her face separately and cut each out.  I then used a pop up glue dot behind her face to add dimenstion.  I also embossed my cardsdtock and lightly inked the embossing.  This is one of my favorite techniques!  I also love adding “banners” to my cards – simply cut a strip of cardstock and add a  “V” shape to one side, it makes a perfect spot for your sentiment.  I also added a little shine to my card by using Stickles on the diploma, sash, and tassel.

Good luck!!!

Art Room – 2-20-12

Hi, Vicki here, with my first Art Room challenge.  The Art Room is fun with the gorgeous ink colors that Stamp School has available!

The colors  I chose for this color challenge is AQUA (blue raspberry), BROWN (hot fudge) and WHITE (sweet tooth).  [I love that the names of our products are the same with ink, papers and felt!  Makes it so easy to order!]  No worries if you don’t have “our” colors, simply use what you have!

Here is my finished card.

I made a template to cover the front of my card, stamped the white image and embossed it, and then I sponged on my colors. Once I liked the depth of color, I stamped my other images.  Taking a paper towel, I wiped off the ink from my embossed image to make it pop.

I hope you play in my color challenge.  Just upload your completed project with the inlinkz system below.

Art Room Color Challenge 1-23-12

Hello everyone!  Rochelle here!  I’m so glad that you decided to visit us in the Art Room today.  When I thought about colors to select, I instantly gravitated toward the Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream and Berrylicious color combo.  It’s a multi-purpose combo that works so well with anything from Baby Showers to Bathroom Decor.  You simply can’t go wrong with this combo.  While Pintresting I came across the photo of the muffins sitting on the boxes with various postal markings on them.  To me, it says vintage, retro, modern and chic all at the same time!  I can’t wait to see what you do with this color combination!  Here is what I came up with:
