OK, so now that you know how to keep up to date, let me show you what’s new this month!

Today’s card shows you two of our cardstocks for this month. Jelly Bean is the rich purple I chose for a cardbase. Then I cut a card front from Gold Coins. I cut that to 4 x 5 1/4. With my card front, I centered the Martha Stewart Punch All over punch and made a little border. I left enough room on the bottom for my stamped sentiment.

Once that was punched, I decided I wanted to make the Gold Coins paper not so plain, so I used some Memento Cantaloupe ink and inked up some bells from the Down the Aisle stamp set.

After I adhered the Gold Coins front to my base, I added 3 Prima crystals to the middle of my flowers.

The 3 colors we are introducing are from Bazzill Basics’ Candy Shoppe cardstock line. It’s a new line of 8 1/2 x 11 100# papers. It’s smooth, which allows us to stamp clean and crisp images on it, and it is very sturdy to use as card bases. We will be carrying these in packs of 25 like the Poptone packs we already carry. We will be carrying matching 100% wool felt, and we will suggest some matching inks from inks we all already use. Bazzill has not introduced any inks for their papers, so we will give you our best matches.

The colors we are introducing this month are Jelly Bean (the purple I used today) and we have found the best ink match is Memento Grape Jelly. I also have used the Distress Concord too and that works pretty well for a match.

The next color is Gold Coins. I love this rich yellow gold color. I have found Memento’s Dandelion is a perfect match. As you saw in today’s card…I used Memento’s Cantaloupe and I like that too. The Cantaloupe color is a bit more orange but it works great for making your own backgrounds.

Our last color this month is Jawbreaker. This color doesn’t photograph as well as the others because it is dark, but it is a very pretty green. It has some blue but not much, so I can’t call it teal green. It has some evergreen hints to it as well. You’ll just have to pick up a pack of paper and see how beautiful this paper really is.

Today’s card is a little more technique based with just a simple sentiment.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base and then cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4 x 5 1/4. I stamped a WPlus9 stamp Mehndi Medallion in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with White embossing powder. Once that was cooled, I used some Stamp School inks on a Blending Tool, making the white embossed medallion pop! I used a watercolor brush between the colors to blend them a bit once I was done. The dye based inks from Poptone works great with this technique.

Next, I diecut the Memory Box Pastry Label die in Sweet Tooth and stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice. I outlined the label using the Worn Lipstick Distress Marker. I threaded a piece of We R Memory Keepers Aqua ribbon through the label. I also diecut a doily from Memory Box out of Limeade cardstock, and layered my pastry label and ribbon over my Limeade doily.

I wrapped the ribbon around my watercolor paper before I adhered it to my cardstock base. That way you don’t see the ribbon on the inside of the card.

Today’s card is a very simple card that can be used for a wedding OR an anniversary card.

I started out with a card base from Sweet Tooth cardstock. I LOVE the Poptone Sweet Tooth cardstock as it is so heavy, it is perfect for a card base! I diecut a Lattice Frame from Cheery Lynn out of one of our new cardstock colors this month…Jawbreaker. Unfortunately, the photo shows it a little more blue than it really is. I’d say it is a beautiful emerald green color.

Next, I cut out some Jawbreaker felt using a My Favorite Things die. Whenever I’m cutting felt using a slim metal die, I ALWAYS use a Cuttlehug thin metal adapter. I get a perfect cut every time.

I stamped the frame from one of our new stamps this month…Down the Aisle in Hot Fudge ink. Then I added the sentiment using Distress Ink Pine Needles. The Pine Needles ink is a perfect match for the Jawbreaker color! I cut around the edges of my frame and pop-dotted the frame over the felt. Easy Peasy!

Check out what the Design Team has done today!

Rochelle created a beautiful card using another new color we’re adding this month…Jelly Bean! It’s a beautiful, rich, deep purple.

Vicki used the same frame I did, but instead of putting her sentiment inside..framed up some beautiful roses instead.

Amber shows how you can take our wedding themed stamps, and alter them for a new use.

We have a guest designer this month…Jocelyn Olson is joining us for the month of June! She has made a clean and simple card using the dress stamp from Down the Aisle.

May 2012 Release Week Last Post

This is our final post for May’s new products! On Mayl 1, our new products go live including 2 stamp sets, 4 beautiful colors of cardstock, inks, and felt!

This month we are adding some fun, bright summery colors. Pink Lemonade, Lemon Drop, Tangy Orange, and Orange Fizz. With these 4 colors, we now carry all 24 colors of Poptone cardstock, their matching ink, and we have matched 100% wool felt to their cardstock as well!

For my last this release, I made a pretty simple card using our ink pads. You may have seen Tim Holtz demonstrate a technique called “Wrinkle Free Distress”. Well, today’s card uses that technique, only it’s using a piece of Watercolor paper and Stamp School’s dye ink.

I started with a piece of Watercolor Paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4. I took my Tangy Orange, Orange Fizz, and Lemon Drop ink pads and pressed the ink pads onto my Craft Sheet. I sprayed the puddle of ink with water, then I drug my watercolor paper through the inks. You can see where some inks stayed in place, and where others ran and mixed with the other colors. I ran my paper through the puddles about 3-4 times until I was happy with the results.

I let the paper dry and then used my Ink Blending Tool with Hot Fudge ink and went around the edges. I used Black Licorice ink for my sentiment, and 3 mini brads in Chestnut. I adhered my card front to my Orange Fizz card base.

May Release Week Second Post

Welcome to Release Week at Stamp School! The last 3 days of each month, you will be treated to some beautiful creations by our Faculty here at Stamp School! Each month, we release 2 stamps per month. Today’s card uses one of my favorite sayings about Dads! Inside the card, I finished the sentiment…to be a Dad.

For today’s card, I started with a piece of Bella Blvd pattern paper. I stamped the chair onto the stripe and fussy cut it out. Then I used my Copic markers to add a little shadow to the cushions.

I stamped 3 other chairs on the card and used a grey colored pencil on the small pieces I envisioned to be wood. I added the sentiment in Black Licorice ink, and added the row of remotes using the Orange Fizz ink from this month.

Today’s card is another example of making my own background/pattern paper. Last month, I confessed that this is not one of my strong points, but I’m getting a little better at it.

This time I used 2 images and 2 ink colors. The hard hat is stamped in a new color, Tangy Orange. I stamped it in full strength, and then stamped it again without inking it up. Hopefully, that gives a little depth to the card. I inked the hammer in another new color, Orange Fizz.

Next, I diecut a label from Sweet Tooth. I then took my ink blending tool, and inked around the edges with Orange Fizz and drew that color all the way across the cardstock so it’s a lighter orange color. Around the outermost edges, I used a little bit of Tangy Orange on my ink blending tool.

The sentiment is from our new set called “Men in My Life”. It is a follow up to last month’s “Women In My Life” and has a few sentiments for the inside of your cards as well as all of the names for the men.

I layered my diecut label on two smaller labels that I cut from Hot Fudge felt. I used 4 CandiDots in Gold Texture to finish out my card by tucking them behind the corners of my diecut.

Check out what the Design Team has done today!

Rochelle created a fun Father’s Day card with another cool image from the Dad’s Tools set, a vintage briefcase.

Vicki is showing off the golf cart image from the Dad’s Tools set, and created a scene any golfer would love!

Amber made an awesome card with the golf cart too! I love the little extra she added to her card.

May Sneak Peek #2

Welcome to our second sneak peek of May’s stamps! I love this one…my Dad holds a special place in my heart, and I am so very excited to be able to make him some cards for Father’s Day, or his birthday or any other occasion to tell him how much he means to me!

May’s Sneak Peek #1

It’s time for the start of our May countdown…This month, we are featuring Dad!!

For our May release, we are bringing you two stamp sets. The first set as shown here is a great image set for all the men you love. There is some sports, some leisure, and some work related images in this set.

April 2012 Release Week Last Post

This is our final post for April’s new products! On April 1, our new products go live including 2 stamp sets, 4 beautiful colors of cardstock, inks, and felt!

Today’s card is a bit different than what you may normally see as a Mother’s Day card.  It’s not bright and springy with pastel colors, but I think it’s rather pretty on it’s own.

I started with a card base of Stamp School Poptone Red Hot paper. Next, I used a piece of Sweet Tooth cut to 4 x 5 1/4 so you can still see a bit of the Red Hot behind it once it’s all put together. On the Sweet Tooth paper, I used my Ink Blending Tool, and various Distress Ink pads to create the colors of the background. I just added some colors and blended until I was happy with it. Next, I added the Paper Smooches cloud background with Stamp School Black Licorice ink. Last, I sprayed some Perfect Pearls Mist over my entire card front. Because the Black Licorice is a dye ink, it does some cool things once the Perfect Pearls is sprayed on it. Do you notice on the purple section of the background that the clouds are very faint? Cool huh!

Next, I stamped one of the main floral images in Sour Apple ink and the flowers in Red Hot. The cool thing about this stamp set, is it allows you to stamp your greenery for the flowers in a green and the flowers themselves in another color. I stamped this on Sweet Tooth and then inked it with a Distress ink again because it was just too stark white. Then I fussy cut around the flower image.

I diecut some Sweet Tooth and inked around the edges, and stamped my sentiment in Black Licorice.

While putting my card together, I wanted to make a border under everything, so I put a layer of Hambly Washi tape first, then layered a red grossgrain ribbon over that.

Stamp School Ink – Black Licorice, Red Hot, Sour Apple
Stamp School Stamps – Flowers for Mom, Women in My Life

April 2012 Release Week Second Post

Welcome to Day 2 of April’s release week! I hope you are excited about this month’s stamp sets! I really love the floral sets, and I hope you’ll see all the many possibilities these sets have to offer!

This second card is one of my favorites for this release. It uses another new pastel color called Bubble Gum for the base. I used the Bubble Gum ink to stamp the background image over the whole card. While at CHA, I learned a new stamping technique for backgrounds from Tim Holtz. Instead of taking your stamp and adhering it to an acrylic block for a full background, you can hold it in your hand and roll it instead. That allows for that cool fading out feeling on the card.

Next up is the vine border I created using one of the stamps from the new set coming out on the 1st of April. I stamped the first part in Jellybean Green 3 times up my card. Then I took the two flower images that go with the vine, and stamped them in Cotton Candy and Grapesicle in the blanks that the first step left behind.

I diecut some Sweet Tooth cardstock and stamped some more of the larger flowers with a 2nd generation Grapesicle. Then I used a sentiment from Women in My Life using Black Licorice. I used an Ink Blending Tool and Cotton Candy ink to go around the edge of my diecut.

Last, I created 2 little flowers using Washi Tape and some Kaisercraft big bling stickers.

April 2012 Release Week First Post

OK, so now that you know how to keep up to date, let me show you what’s going on this month!

Today’s card I have tried to make my own background using one of the floral stamps. I must admit…making my own background has NEVER been one of my strong suits.  :) I started with a card base of a new color for April…Grapesicle. I love this beautiful and soft lavender color! I used the Grapesicle ink that matched, and stamped that multiple times for my background image.

Next, I layered the new Plus Corporation Deco Pen in blue polka dots to the front of my card. This is a new product from CHA and they’re so fun to play with! My 10 year old daughter loves these too! You simply use them like a pen, and the rub-on magically appears!

I cut 2 Nestabilities Labels 4, one from Sweet Tooth, and the other from Banana Split. The Sweet Tooth one, I stamped the same image from the background, however this time, I inked up the stamp with my new Distress Markers before I stamped it. After I stamped it, I used a Water Brush to make the flowers look more watercolor-y. After I did that, I went back with another Distress Marker and outlined some of the flower shapes.

The Grandma sentiment was stamped on another Nestabilities label cut from Sweet Tooth, with the matching Want 2 Scrap pearl sticker.

April 2012 Sneak Peek #2

Welcome back to April’s second sneak peek! This set is so very pretty and goes so well with yesterday’s set. The flowers on this set will allow you to build your own floral backgrounds, use the images for a main focal point, and with our multiple step stamp sets, you can stamp your stems and leaves in a shade of green, and your flower in another color.

April 2012 Sneak Peek #1

It’s time for the start of our April countdown…Spring is here in Iowa and I’m looking forward to grass, flowers, blooming trees and everything else spring has to offer!

For our April release, we are bringing you two stamp sets. The first sentiment stamp is one I hope you will love as much as I do. It is for the Women in My Life. Mothers, Grandmothers, Sisters, Aunts, Birth moms, and so much more!

Welcome to the final post of March’s release! This last card today uses the Graduates stamp set. I used the Hannah stamp, and two of the background builder stamps for today’s card.

I started with a Poptone Cardstock in Limeade base and stamped the square medallion in Limeade ink (it’s kinda faint on this picture) and then went over the medallions with the circle stamp in Jellybean Green.

Next, I used some Graduation pattern paper, a little piece of Maya Road Satin Pleat ribbon, and 3 Candidots.

I colored in my little girl using Copic Markers and cut her out with a new My Favorite Things Dienamics die.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of the new stamps, cardstock colors and ink colors we have coming out tomorrow. Remember all products will be available from A Walk Down Memory Lane.

This last card I used the same body stamp, but changed out the head & feet stamps to make a card for a male graduate.

Check out what the Design Team has done today!

Rochelle made a beautiful card today, coloring in a cute little Hannah graduate.

Vicki made a fantastic little boy graduate using the SAME stamp set as Rochelle…with a little twist!

I started with a card base of Poptone Limeade cut to an A2 card (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and then scored to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4). On the left third and right third of the card, I used the diploma stamp in Limeade ink. On the left side, I used the graduation hat in Black Licorice. Down the middle, I used some Hambly Washi tape for a border. I used some Scor-Tape in 1/8″ and applied some black grossgrain ribbon down either side of the Washi Tape.  I made my own little graduation certificate using 5 stamps from the March set where you can mix & match your wording. You can now make graduation cards for Preschool, Kindergarten, Highschool and College graduates all from one stamp set!

February 2012 Final Countdown Post

Here we are again, the last day of our Release Week countdown. Tomorrow, you can see all of our new goodies for February. This includes 4 new colors of Stamp School Poptone Cardstock, matching inks and cardstock as well as 2 new stamp sets. Tomorrow, you’ll be able to click on the New Products link at our sister store to see all of our new products. OR you can always search by manufacturer, and see all of our products.

Today Samantha has  a card that has me getting ready for spring.

It’s a bit tough to see, but the large white layer is embossed with small polka dots, the she layered a strip of Cotton Candy and Berrylicioius card stock over that to create a faux ribbon. The text is from the brand new Blessed Easter set, which as you can see, looks great with January’s Natural Landscape set. Coloring just a small area of the tree really gives the feeling of spring just beginning to bloom. Samantha continued her card on the inside with another stamp from Blessed Easter:

She used an acrylic stamp block to apply Berrylicious ink directly to the Whip Cream card stock base.

The faculty has some projects for you to check out too today! Just click on the card to be taken to their blogs to see what they’ve been up to.
